About this project

This was my first clip for Brisbane stayers, Ball Park Music. The essence of the treatment was basically, ‘trust me’ – and I’m grateful to the band that they did. It was mostly shot at the former recording studio of legendary producer, Matt Redlich. His joint had wood-panelling for days, and it served as a consistent backdrop to many of the set-ups.

This clip makes some interesting use of motion control throughout – from the longest dolly zoom I know of, to clones of Sam Cromack, to a timelapse/realtime comp of keyboardist Paul Furness coaxing growth out of a box of radish seeds using his trusty melodica.

Film nerdery aside, the clip was a success because Sam and the band never hesitate to give it large ones when the camera starts rolling. Their attitude on set makes everything easy.
