GM & the Flood

Our West End studio was located a few hundred metres from the Brisbane River in West End.  Inevitably, the facility was inundated by the January floods.

The day the water entered the premises, the entire GM crew was due to fly to Borneo for a huge 2-week event production.  We watched events unfold over Facebook and were humbled and astounded by the support and efforts of family, friends and colleagues during the cleanup.  As the building owners negotiated the insurance minefield we moved to a temporary office in Fortitude Valley.

It’s been a difficult road since but we’ve been fortunate to remain occupied with some significant projects.  We still seek a permanent home but our edit suites, camera systems and full list of services are ready and willing to support any project.

On the brand front, we were in the process of launching a new brand – The Division – as an umbrella for our film production services (cameras, editing, studio hire).  With the loss of the studios we are now re-evaluating our brand position.  The Division may become an incubator for our more left-of-field projects.  Please bear with us as we navigate this brand limbo.  Needless to say – Graetzmedia ain’t goin nowhere.

For nostalgia’s sake here’s The Division’s promo reel (prepared for our sponsorship of the 2010 Qld ACS Awards):
